Costco may not be coming yet, but another national brand quietly entered the Capital Region.

A 7-Eleven convenience store was spotted Tuesday evening on Washington Avenue in Albany across the University at Albany’s uptown campus at what had been a Sunoco A-Plus.

This would be the first entry of 7-Eleven in the Albany area, a region dominated by Saratoga Springs-based Stewart’s Shops. Recently, Stewart’s attempted to open a new Albany location at the corner of Washington Avenue and Colvin Avenue at what had been a former KeyBank. The attempt was rejected by the Albany Planning Board.

Presently, according to the 7-Eleven website, no locations exist in Albany.

We have reached out to 7-Eleven for comment and will update this story.
