The New York State Liquor Authority on Tuesday voted to suspend the liquor license for Gaffney’s in Saratoga Springs following reports of violence on Caroline Street.
The board voted unanimously to suspend the license after reports of a violent act taking place at the corner near where Gaffney’s, a longtime Saratoga Springs bar and nightclub, is located. This follows reports that the City of Saratoga Springs attempted to shut down Gaffney’s due to a codes issue, an issue that Gaffney’s says had been resolved.
Caroline Street has the focus of ongoing violence, including a homicide that took place at Clancy’s Tavern last year. Newly elected Public Safety Commissioner Jim Montagnino had previously said a “SPAC-like” ID corridor.
