As first reported on Deadline, AMC Theaters will take over a number of Bow Tie Cinemas locations – including the Criterion Cinemas 11 & BTX in Saratoga Springs.
The deal, in which AMC will acquire seven Bow Tie locations, will mark the entrance of the world’s largest exhibition circuit AMC in the greater Capital Region. The Saratoga Springs location opened in 2013.
According to AMC, they will officially convert the below locations to their new brands on a rolling schedule from mid-late April 2022. Theatres will close at end of business Sunday, April 17, 2022, and will re-open as AMC Theatres in the two weeks following.
The Saratoga Springs location will reopen on April 29, 2022.
In response, Bow Tie Cinemas said as “North America’s oldest theater circuit, is still operating in six cities and five states and is expanding into the luxury entertainment center arena. The company will also announce more cinema locations in the near future.”
Bow Tie Cinemas operates Movieland 6 in Schenectady.
