Feed Albany announced Thursday that Albany-based Ostroff Associates has pledged $25,000 to match the goal of their Spring 2021 fundraising campaign.
The announcement was made at dp An American Brasserie in Downtown Albany.
Feed Albany, which currently utilizes commercial kitchens in Downtown Albany (primarily dp) to produce freshly cooked meals that are distributed each Wednesday, is utilizing the fundraiser to support moving to its own facility in Sheridan Hollow and outfitting a fully functioning commercial kitchen.
To date, Feed Albany has raised more than $400,000 from generous donors across the Capital Region since its founding just over a year ago. The donation from Ostroff Associates is the second largest one-time donation to Feed Albany.
“We are greatly appreciative of the very generous donation from Rick, Diana, and the team at Ostroff Associates,” said Matthew Peter, president, Feed Albany. “It’s amazing how much support we have received since we began our mission. We are excited to move into our new home that will allow us to help more at-risk individuals and families. No one deserves to wonder if they will be able to eat today.”
“We take our role as community stewards very seriously, and when we saw the amazing work the Feed Albany team was doing during the pandemic, we knew we had to step up and help,” said Rick Ostroff, president and CEO, Ostroff Associates. “Food insecurity is an issue our firm is dedicated to combating. By supporting this great organization, we are making strides in that fight here in Albany.”
The $25,000 donation from Ostroff Associates will be used to expand and sustain Feed Albany’s core operations helping to fund their new location and to produce more than 1,500 meals a week.
Since its founding in March of 2020, Feed Albany has provided more than 500,000 meals to unemployed restaurant and hospitality workers, first responders, and at-risk and in-need individuals. Additionally, Feed Albany has provided groceries to senior citizens and families in need throughout New York’s Capital Region.
