Things to Do, Hear, Eat, Learn, and See: Feb 13 – 16

You all know how I feel about the big V – that would be Valentine’s Day. I think it’s a fabricated, commercialized guilt-fest, though there it does have its roots deep in history.

The origins of Valentine’s Day are in the Roman festival of Lupercalia, traditionally held in mid-February, which celebrated the coming of spring. Once upon a time, observance of Lupercalia included fertility rites and the pairing off of women with men by lottery.

Thankfully, we don’t do that anymore. BUT there are plenty of other love-related things on tap for the coming weekend. The Mistress of Fun has collected some of them here for you to consider, along with some non V-Day events for the curmudgeons amongst us (like me). Read on.
