Burn! Staten Island Yankees to give away free mini garbage cans at game against Tri-City Valley Cats, a Houston Astros affiliate

File this one under: major shade.

In the wake of the cheating scandal that has engulfed both the Houston Astros and the Boston Red Sox, one minor league affiliate are getting in a few jabs in while the story continues to blaze sports media. The scandal, revolving the use of cameras and surveillance by the Houston Astros to examine opposing teams, has led to the termination of the Astros general manager and manager in what many consider to be the biggest scandal in baseball since Pete Rose’s ban in 1989 and the “Black Sox” scandal of 1919.

The Staten Island Yankees, the New York-Penn League affiliate for the New York Yankees, will be giving away 500 free mini garbage cans when they play the Tri-City Valley Cats on Thursday, Sept. 3 in Staten Island.
