The 14th annual Santa Speedo Sprint took place on Lark Street in Albany this past Saturday. For the uninitiated, this is an 800-meter run on Lark Street to raise money for the Albany Damien Center and the HIV/AIDS program at Albany Medical Center.
It was a little drizzly, but not terribly cold – although perhaps a little nippy for those wearing far less than what’s typically expected for mid-December.
This year’s event was presented by the Albany Society for the Advancement of Philanthropy (ASAP) in association with Albany All-Stars Roller Derby. Jim Larson, the event organizer, posted on social medial that $14,000 was raised for charity.
The day also featured the 3rd Annual Chili Chowder Stroll presented by the Lark Street BID.
